Carbon rules, translated into commercial decisions.
We help manufacturers and EU importers work out what CBAM and customer carbon requests require, what their data can show, and what to do next. What CBAM and customer carbon requests require, what your data can show, and what to do next.
What applies. What you have. What comes next.
Since 1 January 2026, EU importers of CBAM goods carry a financial obligation for the emissions embedded in them. That puts a supplier’s emissions data into the price conversation. Incomplete data means default values, more uncertainty for the buyer and harder negotiations.Since 1 January 2026, EU importers pay for the emissions embedded in CBAM goods. Your emissions data is now part of the price conversation; gaps mean default values and harder negotiations.

Questions about CBAM.
Requirements depend on the product, trading arrangement and applicable rules. The starting point is always a factual assessment of your situation.
Information current as of October 2026; CBAM rules are changing.
Does CBAM apply to every product exported to Europe?
No. As of October 2026, CBAM covers specified iron and steel, aluminium, cement, fertiliser, hydrogen and electricity goods, identified by CN code. An importer bringing in 50 tonnes or less of CBAM goods in a calendar year is exempt (the threshold does not apply to hydrogen or electricity). An extension to downstream steel and aluminium products is being negotiated and is not yet law.
Should we use actual emissions or default values?
It depends. Declarants can use the Commission’s default values or the producer’s actual emissions, which must be verified by an accredited CBAM verifier. Actual figures can be lower or higher than the defaults. A carbon price paid in the country of production may be deductible, net of any rebate, if it can be evidenced. We assess which route fits your evidence; we do not promise an outcome.
Does CityCorridors independently verify emissions?
No. Actual emissions used in a CBAM declaration must be verified by a CBAM-accredited verifier. We help you prepare for verification and coordinate with the verifier you appoint.
Who is responsible for the formal CBAM declaration?
The authorised CBAM declarant (usually the EU importer or its indirect customs representative) files the declaration and surrenders certificates. We help producers and importers prepare and check the supporting information.
When are the first CBAM payments due?
As of October 2026: certificates for 2026 imports go on sale from February 2027, and the first annual declaration and certificate surrender are due by 30 September 2027. Check the European Commission’s CBAM pages for the latest dates.
